A few days ago I was reading through the Vault and saw the post about the Ladder Experiment.
I’d heard of it before but never properly looked into it until Cookyweb mentioned trying it, so before bed the last few nights I’ve been imagining climbing a ladder, then during the day saying to myself I'm not going to climb a ladder, Nothing obsessive, literally only for a few minutes.
Anyway today I went to visit my parents like I usually do on Saturdays and when I arrived my dad was outside fixing the security light on the house.
He was already up a ladder when I got there but I honestly didn’t think anything of it at all at first.
Then about ten minutes later while I was inside talking to my mum, he shouted because he’d dropped his screwdriver and couldn’t get it without letting go of the light he was holding.
So I went outside and grabbed it, but in order to hand it up to him properly I had to step onto the first step of the ladder.
The SECOND I stepped onto it I just froze for a second and thought:
…okay that’s actually really, really weird!
I know technically I didn’t fully “climb” the ladder
The more I think about this the more i'm a bit freaked out... but in a good way.
Regardless of what anyone tries telling me, I'm claiming that as success story
